Here's why a Leon Valley street is named after the Monkees’ Mike Nesmith

Nesmith was born in Houston, grew up in Dallas, did his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base and attended San Antonio College for a year. HeNesmith was the nephew of former Leon Valley Mayor Richard C. Adair, a retired developer who built most of the homes in the Castle Estates subdivision.You might recognize the Adair name as it’s the namesake of another road about a block away from Nesmith Drive.Mike Nesmith, seen here across decades, has a street named after him in Leon Valley.

“I was just kind of looking around — I didn’t have any real plans of where to go,” Nesmith told the San Antonio Light in 1985. “There was that little junior college there, and I had an aunt living there.”
