I would say that the infrequency of washing or changing your mask is more detrimental than wearing the mask itself.”Washing your cloth mask is as easy as throwing it into the laundry—you don’t have to worry about putting them in a separate load, or on the delicate cycle, or really any special considerations.
Don’t have the energy to come home from a day of running errands and hop right into laundry mode? Dr. Hartman says you can get around this by rotating your masks. “Think of your mask like your underwear and have like seven masks [for the week],” he explains. “Then, when you wash your clothes once a week, you can throw your week’s worth of masks into the laundry and have a new clean batch so you don’t have to think about it as much.
