's first season, which tells its story over 1993, 1994, and 1995. The crucial plot question: Did Jeanette see Kate when she had been kidnapped by her assistant principal Martin Harris? Or did Kate lie, and has thus slandered Jeanette's name?
At this point in the season, the trial is officially ready to begin — Jeanette is suing Kate to the tune of $11 million for dragging her name through the mud on TV. In the sneak peek, both lawyers give their opening statements, with Kate's arguing that the evidence will show nothing. Jeanette's lawyer thinks differently: “The evidence will show that Miss Wallis, on national television, knowingly chose to defame.
