Dune: Part Two has already added some fantastic new cast members, however, this new character from the novels may prove the hardest to get right.
Dune: Part Two has one particular character that will pose a casting problem for this highly anticipated film. Dune: Part Two's cast has already made some critical additions in order to include some of the most important characters from Frank Herbert's legendary novel, Dune.
Dune: Part Two is set to cover roughly the second half of this book, and some of the new characters will include Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen and Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT While the majority of the Dune novel's most important characters are introduced in Denis Villeneuve's first installment, there have been some big casting decisions to make for the sequel. So far, Villeneuve and his casting team seem to be up to the challenge, already adding some of Hollywood's hottest names to Dune: Part Two's cast. However, this particular character from Herbert's novel, who will be critical to the Dune universe, may prove the hardest to get right.Alia Is A Problem For Dune Part 2 Alia is Paul Atreides' sister, whom his mother, Lady Jessica , is pregnant with when they are attacked by the Harkonnens in Dune. Alia will be an extreme challenge in the casting process because she is born with the mind of an adult but is only four years old for the majority of Dune's story. She is born that way because her mother underwent the process of becoming a Reverand Mother while she was pregnant with Alia, meaning they both experienced the flood of memories from the Reverand Mothers of the past. Alia is born with those minds and memories already in her head. This makes Alia wiser than most adults before she can even speak. She also, like her brother Paul, has the ability of prescience. Casting someone who looks 4 years old but can talk and behave like an adult will prove an exceptional challenge. The actor chosen to play Alia will have to be older than 4 to be able to portray Alia accurately, however, they will also have to look young enough to be faithful to the novel. It's also possible that Dune: Part Two extends the timeframe that Paul, Jessica, and Alia spend in the Fremen sietch so that they can age Alia up a year or two.Why Alia Is So Important To Get Right Alia is a crucial character in Herbert's Dune universe. She is important beyond her role in the first book, meaning future installments in the Dune universe will need her as well. First, however, before any future installments can be considered, Alia needs to be handled properly in Dune: Part Two. She plays a huge role in the novel, treating with the Emperor and later killing one of the series' biggest villains. Her wisdom and prescience are critical factors in Paul's ability to combat the Empire and achieve his goals, so it's essential that Dune: Part Two gets Alia right.
