Photo: The North Face The collaboration from MM6 Maison Margiela and The North Face has finally arrived, and it’ll give you a reason to be excited for winter. MM6 announced the partnership with the outerwear specialists back in February during London Fashion Week autumn/winter 2020.
By merging the outdoor apparel brand’s technical precision and functionality with the conceptual prowess of a French luxury fashion house, the capsule collection for adventurers, the fashion set, and those who are both was born. The line revives North Face’s 1990s Expedition System, “a revolutionary system of detachable, layered pieces designed for extreme weather conditions,” says Maison Margiela. Here, staple garments from the series are “reimagined in circular patterns that mimic the ‘circle’ concept inherent to MM6.” The collection includes circle puffer coats, fleece vests and jackets, puffer scarfs, Tabi mittens, and circular clutches and backpacks in a bright palette of cobalt, violet, bottle green, sun yellow, and safety orange. “Authentic performance textiles ensure each piece preserves ultimate functionality whilst embodying a sculptural and resolutely avant-garde silhouette,” says Margiela, so you’ll be equally comfortable foraging for mushrooms in the forest and on your morning walk to your local coffee shop.
