Blood Orange band member Eva Tolkin's self-styled music video for 'Honeycomb' has a lot of dreamy Lou Dallas.
Tolkin describes the song itself as one in which she abandons social niceties, which is apparent from the first few lines: “Sick of being sweet/ Sick of showing teeth.” She says this is especially hard for her, given her innate Canadian politeness , and that the video’s soft color palette reflects this tendency for ladylike posturing.
Tolkin and Lou Dallas designer Raffaella Hanley went through the brand’s archive together, and they ended up pulling appropriately honey-color jackets, ruffled dresses, and blouses primarily from Hanley’s Sod Walker collection. “I thought Eva looked so good in the jacket with the little bloomers—she nailed it,” says Hanley of her favorite moment in the clip. “I think she did a good job of making my clothes her own for her video world, which I appreciated.
