If you’re thinking of taking a trip to the peninsula for a cheaper night out, you might actually find yourself paying more for a brew, according to a new study by Betting.com.
San Jose is the third most expensive city to buy a beer, of the 100 most populated cities in the United States analyzed in this study. San Francisco, meanwhile, tied with Seattle, Washington and Washington, D.C. for ninth place. The study weighed the average cost of both a bottled and draft beer in its ranking. In San Francisco, a bottled brew will run you somewhere around $8.00 and a draft pint has a $7.00 price tag. In San Jose, a bottle could be expected to cost closer to $9.00 and a draft would be just over a quarter extra, at $7.30.
New York City, unsurprisingly, cornered first place with $10.00 bottled beers and Los Angeles came in at second place. California accounted for six of the top ten, with San Diego, Anaheim and Long Beach taking fifth, sixth and eighth place respectively. If you are looking for a cheap pour, the least expensive city for a beer is Toledo, Ohio at just $3.25 for a draft and $5.00 for a bottle.
