Private, Rico, Skipper, and Kowalski from The Penguins of Madagascar
This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available. Madagascar did a wonderful job of introducing new characters that expanded the pop culture legacy of DreamWorks Animation. But one of the best things to come out of the movie directed by Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath was the eventual development of The Penguins of Madagascar.
While the highly entertaining spinoff attempted to take the franchise in a different direction, it wasn't as successful as the other Madagascar movies. Before this movie was released, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted managed to earn $746 million at the global box office. The Penguins of Madagascar showed how viewers were ready to move on towards what DreamWorks animation had planned for the future.
