If projections prove correct, bumper-to-bumper traffic along Ross Clark Circle and other roads will worsen because the Dothan population will climb to about 100,000 people by 2100.
DOTHAN, Ala. -The city currently has just over 70,000 residents, but, truth told, more than 100,000--perhaps more like 140,000-- are in town because of the number who migrate from outlying areas to work and shop.
Ask Mayor Mark Saliba, who will tell you that the daily influx kept Dothan among the most viable cities during the pandemic. As other municipalities struggled, Dothan was like a boomtown. Now, with the projection for continued strong growth, ask him how we will get all those folks on the Circle, which is already a daunting task, though that is a better question for the state, which maintains the highway.
