A dense fog shrouded much of western Washington, significantly reducing visibility and keeping temperatures cool. The fog is expected to clear on Thursday, replaced by clouds and possible light showers. Cooler temperatures will persist throughout the week, with a chance of icy spots on Friday morning. The weekend will bring the coldest air of the season, with overnight lows dipping below freezing for several days.

The fog was very stubborn around much of western Washington today. Visibilities into the evening were still well below a mile in many spots. Use caution if driving around town this evening. The low clouds kept afternoon temperatures very cool, with some locations only warming into the upper 30s to low 40s. We saw a lot more sunshine along the coast and our islands where highs reached the 50s. The fog will be replaced by clouds as a cold front moves onshore during the day on Thursday.

With temperatures dipping to near freezing, icy spots will be possible for Friday morning's commute. The week ahead will be dry for us. Some of the coldest air of the season is set to arrive beginning this weekend with overnight lows below freezing for several consecutive days.
