The most popular books at libraries across San Diego County this year include titles by amortowles, Connellybooks, britrbennett and lucyfoleytweets.
This year, San Diegans were transported to faraway and fantastical lands, thrown into the depths of murder mysteries and taught a little something about the human experiences that bind us — all through the books we read.
With data from the San Diego County Library and the San Diego Public Library, we compiled a list of the 10 most popular books in each system in 2022.Thank you for your support. Both library systems offer books in print, e-book and audiobook formats. The county library, with 41 locations from Fallbrook to Chula Vista to Jacumba, has more readers checking out e-books than any other category.
In combining the data for the three formats, all of the county’s top 10 books were adult fiction, though children’s books dominated print check-outs — likely because the library buys more print copies of kids’ titles, according to a county library spokesperson. The public library, which has 36 locations across San Diego, from Rancho Bernardo to Paradise Hills, still sees most readers drawn to print books. Its top print title, “The Judge’s List” by John Grisham, was checked out or renewed 1,418 times, whereas the top e-book, “The Four Winds” by Kristin Hannah, saw 367 checkouts and renewals.
