Obsessed!!!
“Uncross your legs!” someone shouted as the lights dimmed and then turned a warm red at the Parsons MFA Runway show for Spring 2020 yesterday, marking the beginning of one of the holiest events, New York Fashion Week. Upbeat music played loudly, reminiscent of the 1950/60s , a salute of sorts that felt like a melodic hug, and a precursor of the incredible ingenuity that was about to come down the runway.
In my eight years working in fashion, I’ve come to love any and all opportunities to interact with fashion students. After all, they tend to exist in a protective bubble — they’re not yet tainted by the pressure of capitalism and selling their stuff , they often have access to unlimited resources via their pricey educations , and they’re still super hungry for knowledge.
