Almost 200 people were arrested in the area of Swann Street on Monday, said Peter Newsham, chief of Metropolitan Police Department. Thimmesch said she spent the night outside Dubey's home alongside a few others trying to deescalate the situation. In other homes on the street, smaller groups were welcomed in, too, Thimmesch said.
"He kept coming out and saying, 'No, no I've invited these young people in,'" Thimmesch said, adding that police were"trying to invent exigent circumstances to enter the premises."
