There’s still more murkiness in Dauphin County government, this time over a land deal with its coroner | PennLive lettersOnce again, PennLive’s investigative reporting is raising valid questions about murky financial dealings in Dauphin County government. Taxpayers should pay close attention.The county plowed millions of dollars into the tourism agency after it contracted consulting services of Maria Haste, wife of Dauphin County Commissioner Jeff Haste .
And now, there’s more murkiness in Dauphin County finances, this time related to a business deal involving Dauphin County Coroner Graham Hetrick . Haste and his wife lived on the property in a rented trailer and used it as their address for several years. Haste signed off on refinancing the solar farm in 2017 and promoted it as a way to save money. It turned out to be just the opposite.
The solar farm deal is murky because no one seems to know how county officials decided to fork over $212,000 to purchase the land on Hetrick Lane in the first place. Dauphin County Coroner Graham Hetrick is his home office in Middle Paxton Township, where he’s working on a book about all the life lessons he’s learned from the dead.
