Exclusive: The Walking Dead: Dead City actor Pallavi Sastry shares her feelings on the potential for a continuation of the limited series.
AMC’s long-running zombie-verse lurches on with The Walking Dead: Dead City. The spinoff series focuses in on the storied and tense relationship between Maggie and Negan as the pair are forced to work together yet again, years after the events of The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead: Dead City brings the world of The Walking Dead to one of its most fascinating locations yet, as the series explores the world of a post-apocalyptic Manhattan.
Although the limited series owes its existence to the long-running Maggie vs. Negan story, The Walking Dead: Dead City also introduces a cadre of new friends and foes. One such character is Nina, a member of Maggie’s new community played by Pallavi Sastry.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Pallavi Sastry: I’m trying to figure out how to say this. I think it's okay to say that [it’s fun] when you’re part of one of the last episodes, when you're in a show towards the end, and then you sort of feel like, “Oh, I feel like I see where this is going,” [and] “I feel like there is more.” There's definitely more.Pallavi Sastry: I think so. I feel that way, and the ratings are good.
Why The Walking Dead: Dead City’s Limited Run Is Good For The Show The Walking Dead: Dead City’s first season is only six episodes long, but the choice to keep the show’s first outing brief was a smart one. In a world where a seemingly unending stream of The Walking Dead episodes caused many viewers to drop off from the flagship show, The Walking Dead: Dead City’s short run may entice some formerly overwhelmed viewers to give the franchise another shot.
In what is almost certainly not a coincidence, the fantastic original season of The Walking Dead was also just six episodes. The strength of that season and the impact it had meant another would soon come, and another, until AMC’s zombie empire became what it is today. Even if that lightning in a bottle can never be fully recaptured, it’s exciting to know that The Walking Dead: Dead City may have a longer story to tell.
