This year, CBS gets to call the first-ever Super Bowl in Las Vegas. And the broadcast team of Nantz, Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson can't wait.
“We are hoping for a good game,” Romo said. “We want a close game. I want to call a quarterback having an unbelievable moment, somebody leading a team back from being down, so we can show the world this is football, this was their dream from childhood. You’re in the Super Bowl, you’ve got the ball, the franchise, organization, city, state, all your fans, this is what I dream about, having a moment for our team as well as those players.
“I think I said this to Tony or Rikhoff the other day: I feel like my whole life I’ve been working for CBS calling championships,” Nantz said. “I did have 25 years of my life before I came to the network, but now I’m going into my 39th year, so it feels like I was born at CBS in some respects. ESPN’s Chris Fowler embarks this week on the busiest play-by-play stretch of his career. He will call three college football games during his usual U.S. Open assignment, starting with Florida-Utah at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN on Aug. 31, which is also Day 4 of the U.S. Open. After heading back to New York to call tennis, Fowler will then travel to Orlando to call No. 5 LSU vs. No. 8 Florida State on Sept. 3 on ABC at 7:30 p.m. ET. Then it’s back to the U.S. Open for second-week coverage.
