If you’re a fan of Adam Sandler and his band of misfits, you’ll enjoy this Netflix film
is the latest offering from Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company – and you can tell. The slapdash romantic comedy was mildly entertaining and relied solely on a few funny scenes and the comedic stylings of one star. But if you're a fan of Adam Sandler and his band of misfits, you'll probably enjoy this Netflix film.
It starts with Tim going on a disastrous blind date with Melissa, aka, Missy , which eventually sees him escape through a bathroom window and break his foot. Classic Adam Sandler. Anyway, Tim clearly seems unlucky in love, until he meets another Melissa in the airport who he just seems to click with. They exchange numbers, and he eventually invites her along on a business retreat to Hawaii., but you get the Adam Sandlerness.
Stuck in Hawaii with his ex and his new Missy while competing with a colleague for a new position, puts Tim in a few tricky situations, but makes for a few hilarious scenes. In one he had to impress his boss by going shark cage diving when Missy throws up in the water above them. An already scared Tim kicks his boss in the face while underwater and the blood comes gushing out. Of course, this attracts the sharks, but everyone above board is none the wiser.
It's these scenes that make up most of the film; otherwise, it's pretty much predictable, riddled with Adam Sandler's movies tropes and clichés and a storyline that doesn't have much depth. The characters also have very little development, and even though David Spade's subdued, middle-aged man looking for love is different to any of his usual roles, he was just as boring as that character description sounds.
