Some outtakes from Jimbo Fisher’s visit to Houston this week, with the Texas A&M...
Texas A&M football coach Jimbo Fisher touched on a myriad of topics about the Aggies’ upcoming season during a luncheon meeting Wednesday of The Touchdown Club in Houston.HOUSTON — Talkin’ Season once was reserved for sizzling summers, but Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher has shifted his chit-chats forward a couple of months because it helps him with recruiting and camps in July. And no Aggie is going to argue with that logic.
The four-star quarterback from Denton Guyer was A&M’s lone quarterback signee in the class of 2021 and shifted to tight end early last season. Among the foursome, chances are at least one quarterback will transfer this summer, and that probably would not include Johnson and Weigman, who’s just getting rolling on this whole college experience. That’s a regrettable takeoff from an old Gatlin Brothers song, but no doubt the West Virginian Fisher has hummed a few happy ditties about his favorite fourth-largest city in the nation.
More than a third of Fisher’s top-ranked 2022 class hails from Greater Houston, and the majority of his players on offense last season were from the same bountiful grounds. The Aggies have six pledges in the class of 2023 that currently ranks 12th nationally via 247Sports and amusingly considering the prior topic, none hail from the Houston area .Fisher told the A&M club crowd of hundreds that King, Johnson and Weigman all will play past college.
