Zoe Nordmann of The Woodlands competes in the Class 6A girls 200-yard freestyle during the UIL State Swimming and Diving Championships at Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, in Austin.Zoe Nordmann is accustomed to seeing her last name at the top of the leaderboard. Older sisters Lucie, Lillie and Mary set the bar high in previous years, and now she has taken the lead for The Woodlands girls swimming program.

Nordmann accomplished all that alongside Mary and helped send her senior sister into the sunset as a two-time team state champion. “She’s really matured since her freshman year,” The Woodlands coach Jeremy Wade said. “She really takes her training very seriously, but she’s also got a great attitude about her. She’s got a great personality, she’s happy-go-lucky, and she’s a great teammate. She takes her practices serious, but at the same time, she lifts other people up and has fun with her teammates.”

Once Nordmann was able to compete again, she and her teammates locked into their goal of winning a state title. The Woodlands had plenty of depth this season, and along with Mary, Maria Uranga, Evlin Riederer, Brooke Miller, Sophia Cristal and Chloe Corbin, the Highlanders made the podium in all three relays at the state championships. The 106 points earned in those events were crucial to securing the state crown.
