The Woodlands Christian boys win third straight TAPPS golf state championship
The Woodlands Christian's boys golf team won its third consecutive TAPPS 5A state championship Tuesday at Glen Rose. The Warriors won by 44 strokes.With elite talent returning from back-to-back state championship teams, the Warriors knew if they played their game and played with confidence, they had a great shot to make it three in a row.
“It was a great last couple of days,” said Pounds, who will continue his career at Texas A&M. “I was playing with a lot of confidence. I hit my wedges good all week, and there were a lot, so I was able to make birdie when I had a wedge in my hand, which was big. It was fun. Good to close it out.” It will never be known whether the Warriors could have won four in a row. The COVID-19 pandemic canceled the high school golf season in 2020 when these seniors were freshmen.
