Meet the women who helped Apollo's 11 mission a success:
There was command module pilot Michael Collins, orbiting the Moon above them, for one thing, but back on Earth, more than 400,000 other people had worked to make the historic moment happen. And not all of them were men.Neil Siegel, USC, https://viterbischool.usc.edu/news/2016/07/in-memory-of-judith-love-cohen-mother-wife-friend-author-engineer/
Electrical engineer Judith Love Cohen designed the Abort-Guidance System in the Apollo lunar module and helped plan a return-to-Earth orbit in case the crew had to abort a mission before reaching the Moon. When power failed in the command module during the Apollo 13 mission, the crew used Cohen's AGS as a backup computer to navigate their way home on the return-to-Earth orbit. At the time, she worked for Space Technology Laboratories on a contract for NASA.
Seamstresses at the International Latex Corporation sewed the astronauts' spacesuits. They often worked closely with engineers, combining their practical knowledge of how to actually put together a garment with the engineers' designs and parameters. The Apollo astronauts frequently visited the company to try on the suits, which were handmade to fit each individual astronaut, so the seamstresses often met and talked with the people whose lives depended on their work.

Women Are Dying in Car Accidents Because The Only Female Crash Test Dummy Weighs 110 Lb.For years, it has been reported that women are significantly more likely to be injured in car crashes than men—Jezebel wrote about the phenomenon back in 2011, when it appeared that seat belts were to blame. Most of the women harmed were, to quote USA Today nearly a decade ago, of “relatively short stature,” and “preferred seating posture and a combination of factors yielding lower safety protection from the standard restraint devices.” Cool, cool: seat belts weren’t designed with women in mind.
