🚨 BREAKING 🚨 Tom Welling joins the Supernatural prequel show, TheWinchesters, as Samuel Campbell, Sam and Dean's grandfather.
The Winchesters has added Tom Welling to the cast as Sam and Dean's grandfather, Samuel Campbell. Taking place in the 1970s, The Winchesters will follow Supernatural protagonists Sam and Dean's parents, John Winchester and Mary Campbell, as they embark on their fateful relationship and hunt monsters. Mitch Pileggi previously played the role of Mary's father in Supernatural seasons 4 and 6.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Best known for his role on Smallville as Clark Kent, Welling is most recently set to star in the Scott Windhauser-directed action film Deep Six. Smallville was an early success for the CW, and remains one of the top 10 most popular series on the network despite its pilot airing over two decades ago on The WB.
What To Expect of Tom Welling's Samuel Campbell Welling's breakout role as Clark Kent saw him as a compassionate and optimistic person devoted to helping others, which could be interesting traits to bring to his role as Samuel. Mary Campbell's father was a gruff, no-nonsense, anti-social hunter in Supernatural with a surprisingly dark edge who had a complicated relationship with his family members.
As one of the first big name CW stars, Welling is an exciting addition to the main cast of the highly anticipated prequel series, The Winchesters. After Supernatural's series finale, the CW is working to make up for that popular property's loss by expanding the series into a new franchise for the network with the prequel. With Welling involved as well as Ackles reprising his role, the network could have a hit on their hands when The Winchesters airs this month.
