Rocky River kicked off its first Summer Nights event June 23, but the evening was marred by extreme weather conditions.
The band for the first Rocky River summer concert June 23 was Funkology . They played a myriad of songs from the 1950s through the 1980s.The evening was marred by extreme weather conditions: heat, torrential rain and blustery wind.It all took place in City Hall Park, at the corner of Wagar Road and Hilliard Boulevard.
Funkology, a talented band that has been together since 2007 and has played in Rocky River before, provided a fantastic performance that made up for the weather-related delays. Band leader Bryan Keller, highlighting the ensemble’s versatility, said, “We have a good time with good music, playing a little bit of everything.”Kids had a great time on bouncy inflatables and the opportunity to bounce and slide on a huge inflatable slide.Despite the adverse weather, the event was a success, and the city is looking forward to three more upcoming evening concerts, with hopes for better weather.
