Maggie looking serious in The Walking Dead Dead City
The Walking Dead is finally resolving a 12-year-old storyline that was cut short much too soon. While The Walking Dead series finale ended the core story of the franchise, multiple spinoffs have continued with unresolved threads.
This includes Daryl Dixon, showing Daryl and Carol's adventures in Europe, and The Ones Who Live miniseries bringing closure to Rick and Michonne's fates. The other spinoff is Dead City, which follows Maggie and Negan in New York City many years after the events of the main show. Dead City season 3 is poised to see the pair attempting to work together and build a life in Manhattan despite the tension between them. However, behind-the-scenes revelations also point to an unresolved storyline getting addressed. Beth Is Returning In The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 A behind-the-scenes image from Dead City season 3 confirmed that Emily Kinney will be reprising her role as Maggie's sister, Beth, in the spinoff. The images reveal both her and Maggie actor Lauren Cohan dressed in jackets, smiling together. It's unclear if cameras were rolling, but if they were, it implies this is a winter-themed flashback. Beth was introduced in The Walking Dead season 2 as Hershel Greene's youngest daughter. While she later grew close to both Carl Grimes and Daryl, she also maintained a friendship with Maggie. This came to a head in season 4, when the Governor's attack on the prison separated everyone, leaving Beth lost, with Daryl as her only companion. She ended up getting kidnapped by a group of survivors at a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, who forced her to work for their group. Right before she could get rescued, though, she stabbed their leader, Dawn, resulting in her getting shot and killed. She was never reunited with Maggie, making for a tragic end to her story. How Beth’s Return Can Resolve A TWD Storyline The last time Maggie saw Beth was when Daryl carried her body out of the hospital. Despite all she's been through, no other character in Dead City nor the main show has been able to replicate her relationship with her sister. It could potentially be one of finality that offers a proper ending to their journey together.
