The coaches selected Jason Mraz's"Lucky" but chose the bilingual version that the singer released with Ximena Sariñana, titled"Suerte .""You two gave us a beautiful, beautiful performance," John raved."Madison, you were brilliant, and Kyle, I don't know if you've sung in Spanish before...
"I'ma be super honest. Both of you guys could win the entire competition and neither of you guys should leave," he explained."I think that John is gonna try and steal Kyle. So if I was Dna + Shay, I would use my Playoff Pass right now."Ultimately, however -- much to John's chagrin -- that's exactly what happened. Dan + Shay selected Kyle as the winner of the Battle, sending him on to the Knockout Rounds.
"This was the most cohesive performance so far," Dan praised."I felt the energy. I felt the magic... When we left rehearsals the other day, Shay and I were like, 'They both deserve to win this show.'" "For Kyle to step up like that, to learn Spanish for this performance, it just shows how badly he wants it," Shay agreed."Madison, just blew us away. just a star.""They give great notes. They're really good," Reba praised."They're knowledgeable about the business but they also have a lot of heart and that's what they're going for.""It's changed everything for us," Shay admitted.
Despite the good vibes, however, the coaches are still plenty competitive. With Niall stepping away this season after winning back-to-back titles, the trophy is up for grabs -- and there's a better-than-average chance it could go to a first-time champion, as only John has won the competition before.airs Mondays at 8 p.m. PT/ET and and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. PT/ET on NBC, and streaming the next day on Peacock.
