Whoopi Goldberg and the other hosts of “ The View ” reacted to the shooting of Alex Pretti at the hands of federal law enforcement agents in Minneapolis over the weekend, with Goldberg insisting Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino “have blood on your hands”—joining other actors and entertainers protesting the massive enforcement operation in Minnesota.

The other hosts of the view also seemed in agreement—Ana Navarro, a cohost and former Republican strategist, said the Trump administration “lies to its citizens” and said the phone Pretti was holding posed a different kind of threat: “they don’t want people to see the cruelty that they are inflicting on women, on children.” However, cohost Sunny Hostin also said she thought the shooting could be an “inflection point” that could lead to change, noting, “I have never seen this type of groundswell from Americans that I saw this weekend, quite frankly.”“They murdered a man,” Goldberg said on the panel show on Monday, noting “he is standing, he has his phone and he has a bottle of water, and they shot him 10 times.”The Trump administration announced a massive immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis in December, dubbed “Operation Metro Surge.” The federal agent surge came as the Trump administration ramped up criticism of the state government over an alleged welfare fraud. Good, a 37-year-old mother, was shot and killed in her car in Minneapolis earlier in January by an ICE agent, which led toin the city. Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, was shot and killed on Saturday. The Trump administration has defended the conduct of the federal agents in both shootings, and officials rushed to portray him as ato officers after the most recent shooting. Pretti was armed with a handgun, but video from the confrontation appears to contradict the administration’s narrative, and appears to show an officer disarming him before he is shot and killed.The shooting happened while many Hollywood actors were attending the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and several took vocal stances in solidarity with the protesters in Minnesota. Celebrities attending red carpet premieres at the prestigious festival wore “ICE OUT” pins over the weekend, including Olivia Wilde, Natalie Portman and Natasha Lyonne. In an interview with the, Edward Norton said “we are sitting here talking about movies while an illegal army is being mounted against U.S. citizens.” Portman spoke out further in an interview with, calling the Trump administration’s crackdown “really the worst of the worst of humanity.” About 100 demonstrators turned out in Park City for a brief “Sundancers Melt ICE” protest on Sunday night, which reportedly included Elijah Wood. Other celebrities have directly called for action on social media. In an Instagram story on Monday, Katy Perry asked her followers to call their senators to ask them to block the appropriations bill that includes funding for DHS. Perry’s story also included a script for callers to read to their elected officials.
