“Once a criminal is on our radar, they stay on it'

They are the convicted criminals from Greater Manchester whose crimes have been deemed so serious they will be denied freedoms the rest of us take for granted - even when they get out of prison.

They include Serious Crime Prevention Orders , Slavery and Trafficking Prevention Orders, Financial Reporting Orders and Travel Restriction Orders. Capon, originally of Moreton Avenue, Stretford, Manchester; and Downes, of no fixed abode, both pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply drugs. Capon was jailed for 16 years and eight months; and Downes to 11 years respectively at Manchester Crown Court in December 2019.

His close ally Bilal Khan, 33, from Didsbury, also posed with the deadly machine gun. Khan, who worked for a property management company, was locked up for more than 10 years. Zaheer was also involved in helping broker deals to sell terrifying weapons to other criminals. He arranged a £37,000 deal to sell Uzi and Skorpion sub machine guns, as well as a pistol to Khan. Former electrician Robert Brazendale, 34, who worked with Zaheer and acted as a courier and driver, handed over the guns in a shop car park in Warrington, in exchange for the cash.

Gary Betts, Christopher Sammon, and Wayne Simmonds Three members of a gang of drug dealers found guilty of plotting to use a team of fake police officers to rob and torture an elderly businessman in his 80s will each be subjected to seven restrictions. Betts, 57, Gerard Boyle, 52, Christopher Sammon, 32, his brother John Sammon, 35, and Wayne Simmonds, 39, were all unanimously found guilty of conspiracy to rob. They had all previously admitted conspiracy to supply cocaine.
