Tom Gormican's The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is full of surreal moments, and it was the movie's lead, Nicolas Cage, who came up with the most memorable scene of them all. In the 2022 action-comedy, Cage plays an exaggerated version of himself as a struggling, out-of-work actor desperate to get auditions.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY During the movie's action scenes, the fictional Cage character, called "Nick," applies what he learned from the real Nicolas Cage's movies. While Cage embodying all these different versions of himself is fun, one stands out from the rest.
Where Does Nicky Come From? While the Nicky version of Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent seems to be at least partly inspired by the actor's role in Wild at Heart, there's a lot more to it. Obviously, Nick Cage's life in the movie isn't true, but surprisingly, Nicky is a representation of a real moment from the real actor's past outside his film work.
When Cage is introduced, he front-flips onto the stage, and it just gets weirder from there. In the interview, the actor is wearing a leather jacket like Nicky's and similarly has long floppy hair, and he's constantly kicking the air. At one point, he takes off his shirt and gifts it to Wogan. The difference between Cage's over-the-top attitude and Wogan's mindful manner is like night and day.
