Here's everything you need to know about today's minute's silence in honour of the key workers who have lost their lives since the coronavirus pandemic began
Britain will fall silent at 11am this morning to remember those who have lost their lives on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.
In yesterday's daily government press conference, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said 82 NHS workers and social care staff had lost their lives since the start of the crisis. Other key workers, including 26 transport workers in London, have also passed away. Today's minute's silence has been organised by key worker trade unions, including Unison, the Royal College of Nursing and the Royal College of Midwives, to honour those who have died trying to save others and keep Britain safe.
The tribute also coincides with International Workers' Memorial Day, which falls today and remembers people who have died or become unwell as a direct result of their work. Boris Johnson, who returned to work yesterday after contracting coronavirus, will take part in the minute's silence from Downing Street.
