Two takeaways have been shortlisted among the 40 best chippies in the UK in the 'chippy world cup'
Chips @ No. 8 in Prestwich and Town Street Fryer in Marple Bridge, Stockport, have been named among the finalists in the Fish & Chip Takeaway of the Year 2024, the annual awards run by the National Federation of Fish Friers.

Earlier this year, the beloved Chips @ No.8 was named amongst the UK's best for a third year running in the 2023 Fry Magazine Awards. It also made it into the final 20 of last year's Fish & Chip Takeaway of the Year Awards. Billed a 'traditional English chippy', it is known for frying in beef dripping and uses only the 'freshest' and 'finest' local produce.
The National Fish and Chip Awards is now in its 36th year and acknowledges and champions businesses and individuals throughout the UK who make outstanding contributions to foodservice. This year's judging panel - made up of the industry’s ‘a-fish-onados’ - put hopeful entrants through an extensive judging process, testing them against industry best practice on environmental issues, product knowledge and their responsibilities as an employer.
