State officials were reportedly furious with the Trump administration over the way that they distributed the drug, and the fact that states were not consulted at all about which hospitals would receive it. The federal government was relying on hospital ICU bed capacity data to determine where to send the remdesivir—a flawed metric that didn’t adequately show where the drug was truly needed, state officials later told the administration.
