The Lifetime movie version stars Penelope Ann Miller and Mia Kirshner as Caroline and Bethany, respectively, two mothers who are so desperate to get their children into college, they will do anything — even break the law.
From the trailer, it’s clear that Caroline’s story appears to be based on the real-world events surrounding Huffman, who in May to both mail fraud and honest services fraud, confessing that she paid $15,000 to an SAT proctor to alter her daughter’s responses on the exam. The trailer shows Caroline doing the same thing for her teenage son.
