HBO's The Time Traveler's Wife is ending after one season. The six-part series follows the intricate yet complicated love story between Clare and Henry whose marriage faces a big problem: time travel. Based on the best-selling novel by Audrey Niffenegger, the romance/fantasy was written and produced by Doctor Who and Sherlock co-creator Steven Moffat.Deadline reported today that The Time Traveler's Wife will not be returning for a second season.

Although it was unclear whether The Time Traveler's Wife would be a limited series, the first season seemed to set up the need for a second. The season finale only ended about halfway through Clare and Henry's story: on their wedding day. The finale even referenced their future together, pointing to their stessful attempts to have children, and showing Henry talking on the phone to what the audience can assume is the character from the book, Dr.
Despite staying faithful to the book for the most part, the decision to end the show after just one season ruins any chances to continue Clare and Henry's story the way it was in the novel. This is bound to disappoint fans considering it was highly rated among audiences. However, it appears raving reviews from fans weren't enough to save The Time Traveler's Wife, as season 2 is no longer a possibility.
