Actor John Bachrach, who will portray the Thing in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and playfully dodged questions about details regarding Doctor Doom's role and potential interactions with Robert Downey Jr. on set. Bachrach also confirmed the use of motion capture technology for the Thing's portrayal.
Bachrach will play the role of the Thing in the new Fantastic Four movie. Though Robert Downey Jr. is known for playing Iron Man in the MCU, it was revealed in 2024 that he would be returning to the franchise as the iconic villain Doctor Doom , known for his rivalry with the titular superteam.went on, Kimmel asked Bachrach if he could spill some details about The Fantastic Four : First Steps which he is not allowed to share.
Upon receiving no answer from Bachrach, Kimmel further asks if he and Robert Downey Jr. shared a good dynamic on the set. But, the actor joked with Kimmel instead of answering directly, saying, “Yeah, we live together. Yeah, he asked me to move in.” Kimmel further questioned whether Robert Downey Jr. is in the movie or if he is going to appear at the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, Bachrach declined to answer again and said, “It’s not going to happen. I’ve been through rigorous media training.” He also disclosed that he has seen a bit of rendering of the Thing and Andy Serkis’ company The Imaginarium is helping them.
Bachrach previously appeared on Kimmel’s show in February 2024 when he revealed that they will use motion capture for the Thing. He, “In the past, I think they’ve done a suit. Michael Chiklis wore a suit that apparently was really uncomfortable, and it’s kind of… we’re past that. It’s a little kind of cosplay, kind of amateur that kind of stuff now with the technology we have.”The first trailer for In the Lost Lands has been released.
