It is clear we need to do more to support the mental health of young people.
We need to create a culture that values mental health and well-being just as much as academic and professional success. This means providing resources and support for young people who are struggling with mental health issues, as well as educating the public on the importance of mental health.
Schools should also prioritize mental health education and provide resources for students who need help. Finally, we need to work to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. Too often, young people are ashamed to admit that they are struggling with mental health issues. This stigma can prevent them from seeking help and can make their struggles even more difficult.
The youth are the future of our society, and it’s our responsibility to ensure that they are given the tools and support they need to thrive. We need to work together to create a culture that values mental health and well-being, provides resources and support for those who need it, and reduces the stigma surrounding mental health.Laghima Pal is a student at Cumberland Valley and a former summer intern with the PennLive and The World Affairs Council of Harrisburg.
