'The state's on fire': Washington fire departments stretch resources amid wildfire season

As wildfires ravage the Pacific Northwest, local fire departments are stretching their resources to help.

. This comes as Gov. Jay Inslee has issued an emergency declaration in response to the dry conditions.

“The state’s on fire. Smokey the Bear is pretty upset right now considering how much is burned,” SRFR Spokesperson Peter Mongillo said.continues across the Pacific Northwest, Station 31 in Monroe is home to multiple units equipped to help. That includes an apparatus that can carry 3,000 gallons of water. It was used by four of their firefighters while battling the Power Pole Fire in Central Oregon.In total, SRFR has deployed upwards of 20 personnel this summer, including in Grand Coulee.
