Joanna Lovell visited Playa Montroig on the Costa Dorada in Spain with Eurocamp, here's why it's the perfect family holiday...
I almost never booked this particular holiday resort – for 1 main reason – but I'm so glad I did. Our family have just returned from a Eurocamp holiday to Playa Montroig – a resort on the Costa Dorada in Spain, close to Cambrils and Salou, right on the beach.
Side note – if you have younger kids and are likely to be around the splash park, they do have about a dozen or so sun beds there!What are Eurocamp holidays like? The kids enjoy having separate rooms, instead of being stuck in a hotel room, and able to help themselves to the fridge whenever they want. When there we spent most of our time on the decking, which had plenty of space for everyone. Plus there's a barbecue so you can cook up your own feast and dine al fresco style!They're fairly basic, you aren't going to get a luxurious holiday home in the same way we do in this country, but they are totally adequate and were spacious enough for our family of five.
Activities At Playa Montroig, there’s a fully-equipped fitness centre, crazy golf, tennis courts and football courts. Inside there's a games room with football tables, darts and pool.There's everything from water polo, football tournaments, table tennis, face painting, foam parties, circus shows, splash dance – the list really goes on.
Pra Delle Torri in Italy with it's secret pool, wine on tap and Olympic size pool will also take some beating. But of the five Eurocamp holidays we've had, Playa Montroig does take the bronze medal. Further along the coast is Salou. The highlight of Salou for us was House of Illusion – where we enjoyed the all-inclusive magic and mystery theatre show. Just wow. This is a MUST visit family show.PortAventura World – the leisure complex featuring the PortAventura and Ferrari Land theme parks, the Caribe Aquatic Water Park are easy accessible from the site thanks to a free shuttle bus which runs daily.
