The Sims 4: Horse Ranch expansion pack receives a crucial patch on February 4th, fixing a range of bugs and performance issues that plagued players upon release.
The Sims 4: Horse Ranch expansion pack, while bringing the joy of horses and ranch life to the game, initially launched with several bugs and performance issues. Many players experienced problems, ranging from game crashes and slow performance to Sims becoming unable to eat cooked food, a crucial aspect of the game. Thankfully, EA released a patch on February 4th to address these concerns.
The patch notes detail numerous fixes, including resolving random crashes and poor performance, errors that caused Sims to vanish, and corrupted files. The infamous issue preventing Sims from eating cooked food has also been resolved. Beyond these major fixes, the patch also tackles several smaller issues. It addresses a memory problem that could lead to unpredictable behavior after extended gameplay, improves the mouse scroll wheel functionality, and investigates hardware configurations experiencing disproportionate errors. Specific hardware setups, including those with Intel ARC GPUs, Snapdragon laptops with Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 GPUs, and NVIDIA T600 GPU laptops, are under active review. Players encountering errors related to incompatible Vulkan devices have found a workaround by removing the “OpenCL™, OpenGL®, and Vulkan® Compatibility Pack.” The patch also offers solutions for importing Sims and houses, as well as addresses issues related to traveling between worlds and family creation. EA acknowledges that some previously addressed issues might have corrupted saves before the patch. Therefore, they recommend starting with a fresh save in affected cases, as the game cannot repair the corruption. While the Alien Abduction scene now functions correctly, the alien baby is still missing and under development. Finally, the patch advises against moving the full-screen game to another monitor using Windows shortcut keys, as it may cause issues.
