Amari Cooper and Deshaun Watson aren't afraid to overcommunicate for the sake of the Browns' offense.
It was the kind of performance that’s a reminder of how high the ceiling could be for both as teammates. They played in only six games together in 2022 after Watson’s 11-game suspension concluded. And while he was shaking off the rust for most of that time, Cooper was battling a nagging groin injury, one that required him to have offseason surgery.
In the first two games this year against the Bengals and Steelers, the offense still has been working to find its footing -- no easy task considering the rain they had in the opener against the Bengals and the pass rush of the Steelers in Week 2. “It is awesome to have a smart receiver like Coop, who’s a veteran guy, who understands what we want from him, what the game plan is basically coming about,” Watson said. “And then also just really what he’s seeing out there with the coverages. So with him being able to communicate with me and I communicate with him and when we’re on the same page a lot of good stuff, a lot of good things happen.”But players often talk about -- well, talking.
