The Parramatta halfback says Nicho Hynes “will do the jersey proud”. But if NSW don’t win game one, does Moses get rushed back into the side?
Mitchell Moses’ potential return to the State of Origin arena could come with him still battling pain from a screw in his broken foot as he backed Nicho Hynes to “do the jersey proud” in the series opener next Wednesday night. It was Moses’ first game for almost three months after his broken foot sent Parramatta’s season into a tailspin, resulting in Arthur losing his job following more than a decade at the helm.
Moses said his injury would still require pain management as he endorsed Blues halfback Hynes to lead his state to a pivotal win in Sydney.“I’m probably going to feel it for the next few weeks. I tried to push it and come back early to give myself every chance to get out there. It just wasn’t ready. I’ve probably only had one kicking session in the last 10 weeks and that was on Monday.
But as he struggled to return to the field, Hynes became the obvious choice with another five-eighth option, Cody Walker, being scratched because of a calf complaint. “It was pretty tough watching from the sidelines and being helpless, and to see what happened. I have had a chat to him, but we have to move on quick.
