These shorts have two pockets, one that zips on the outside back and another stash pocket on the interior. The zipper pocket was both more comfortable and useful to store stuff, and because the interior stitching wraps around all four sides it secured everything well enough to minimize bouncing.
The only issue? It’s small. I was able to stuff a car key, ID, and credit card comfortably, but you certainly won’t be able to fit a phone . Just be aware that if you are the person who needs to haul several energy gels, a phone, and your full set of keys, you will need a fuel belt orThen again, the point of these shorts is to be feather-light and über comfy against your nether-regions, so you won’t want to load them down with anything anyway.
