The “Pro Life Spiderman” who climbed the 61-floor Salesforce Tower in San Francisco on Tuesday without any ropes was arrested by police after reaching the top.
Earlier in the day, the San Francisco Fire Department reported that the climber was met by the authorities after reaching the top of the 1,070-foot-tall building at 415 Mission St. at around 10:50 a.m. local time. Local news outlets including the San Francisco Standard and SFGate initially reported that the climber appeared to be Des Champs, who has also dubbed himself the “Pro Life Spiderman.” He identifies himself on his website as a rock climber who recently started scaling skyscrapers to end abortion. His goal is to raise $1 million for “pro-life charities” and to put a Washington, D.C.-based doctor in jail.
The stunt, which the San Francisco Fire Department said put firefighters’ lives and public safety at risk, came the day after Politico leaked a now-authenticated draft majority opinion of a pending Supreme Court decision to strike down the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion.
