Approach with caution

A debate has been sparked on social media about the correct way to use a Merseyside roundabout, and it seems opinions really differ.

. It has now sparked a debate in a local Facebook group about how you should actually use the roundabout. The post reads: “If you were driving from Tesco Extra taking the third exit towards Thatch and Thistle... what lane would you wait in at the roundabout, left or right. Many people seem to use either and it drives me mad.”

Another person replied: “It’s not a right turn. If you look at the roundabout like a clock you only go in the right lane if it’s after 12pm. If it’s before or 12 it’s the left lane. Simple.” According to the Liverpool Echo, Sefton Council, ideas were welcomed last year about improvements to the roundabout and surrounding areas. Labelled as the Southport Eastern Access Scheme, the council hoped to ease congestion for motorists as well as to revamp the cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. However, so far nothing has changed.
