O.A.R., whose members attended Ohio State University when the band was just getting started, is scheduled to play Kemba Live on Aug. 7, in Columbus.

“We played that song and I didn’t really know how that was gonna go,” DePizzo, 43, said. “We’re all Ohio, but those are two different cities, and they loved it. That certainly warms my heart when we sing the first line and the whole place just goes up. That is a good feeling.”will bring to Kemba Live on Aug. 7, for a show they're co-headlining with Dispatch. Approaching the 25th anniversary as a band that spent its formative years as Ohio State students, the members of O.A.R.

DePizzo said the pandemic created a “forced hiatus” for O.A.R., a band accustomed to a heavy tour schedule forced to pivot during the COVID-19 pandemic. That approach to the album was drastically different than the recording processes for early albums such as “Soul’s Aflame,” “The Wanderer” or even major-label debut “In Between Now And Then,” which features the aforementioned homage to Columbus.

To celebrate the 2003 release of “In Between Now And Then,” fans can pre-order it at Johnny Go’s House O’ Music on High Street and receive a ticket for a release-day acoustic show inside a ballroom at the Ohio Union. That record store, one of the first to sell O.A.R.’s albums, is now a Target and that iteration of the union was razed in 2006 and reopened four years later.
