The podcasting industry is booming, creating a surge in demand for skilled podcast assistants. This article explores the role of a podcast assistant, the skills required, and how to find job opportunities in this growing field.

Podcasts are soaring in popularity and are expected to become even more prevalent in 2025. An estimated 141 million Americans will tune into podcasts by 2025. For podcast creators, starting a venture can present its own set of hurdles. Angelique Rewers, CEO and founder of small business consulting firm, notes, 'In the beginning, everyone's excited to start their podcast.' However, as podcasts grow, tasks can become overwhelming. This is where a podcast assistant could prove invaluable.

The role of a podcast assistant can encompass a range of responsibilities: researching and booking guests, managing emails, editing audio, publishing content, marketing the show across social media and traditional channels, writing show notes, securing brand deals, and more. Depending on the specific tasks undertaken, individuals in this role might be called podcast producers or specialize further as podcast editors, podcast marketing strategists, or adopt other relevant titles. Potential assistants are encouraged to assess their skills and experience before exploring how to offer their services. Okome suggests, 'You can easily go onto Fiverr and Upwork and see what people are charging, and then develop your packages from there.' On platforms like Fiverr, professionals often set their rate per project, while on Upwork, they frequently list their hourly rate. Both sites offer project opportunities, and Okome recommends joining Facebook groups dedicated to podcasts to discover job postings. Job seekers can also explore platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, or Google Jobs. Podcast projects come in various lengths, from one-time engagements lasting less than 30 hours to ongoing weekly commitments
