The biopic Big George Foreman attempts to capture the dynamic life of one of boxing's greatest legends, but what was the real story behind the movie?

The sports biopic Big George Foreman recounts the life of one of boxing's biggest personalities, but what is the real story behind the movie? The film follows George Foreman, played by Khris Davis, through his rise from poverty to the heights of the sports world in an underdog story that was seemingly crafted for cinema.

George Foreman's Early Life As recounted in his autobiography, George Foreman's Guide to Life: How to Get Up off the Canvas When Life Knocks You Down, Foreman was one of seven children raised in the Fifth Ward of Houston, Texas. Foreman's early life was one of intense poverty, and according to Foreman himself, he was a misguided teen who often turned to crime to make a living.

Shocking the boxing world, Foreman defeated Frazier easily and earned his first world title from the legendary fighter. Throughout 1973, Foreman defended the belt on two occasions and was able to improve his record to an impressive 40 and 0 with knockouts coming in 37 of his victories. An unforgettable title bout was scheduled in October 1974 when Foreman took on Muhammad Ali in a contest known as The Rumble in the Jungle in Kinshasa, Zaire.

Comeback And Second Championship At the age of 38, George Foreman stepped back into the ring to prove that age was just a number and that he could still do it. Through a series of exhibition fights, Foreman regained his balance in the ring and began to impress with his seemingly undiminished ability to land dangerous blows to unwary opponents. By 1988, Foreman began to fight a more regular schedule and even defeated former Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight champion Dwight Muhammad Qawi.
