The Sooners did get better as the year went on — their last four losses were by a combined 12 points — and Venables hit the transfer portal hard to improve his leaky defense. If quarterback Dillon Gabriel can make a leap in his second season in Norman, and a deep backfield should alleviate some of the pressure on him, Oklahoma can be a sleeper in the Big 12.
