On a special bonus episode of ‘Still Watching,’ executive producers Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey drop by to discuss their new horror-comedy series, which hit Hulu on September 13.
“I read it when it came out and was very immediately attached to it,” said Reddout of the novel. “I really connected with Nella’s story and her journey, and it really resonated for me.” When Reddout and Hickey learned Harris’s book was being adapted into a television show bywas also attached to produce—they jumped at the opportunity to get on board. “We turned down other jobs because we were waiting, we were holding out hope,” said Hickey.
Immediately, it was helpful having Harris in the room as another executive producer. “Anything that we wanted to add or expand upon in the book, it was really great to look in the Zoom box and look at Zakiya and be like, ‘Can we do this?’” said Hickey. Jones also brought expertise from her background as a daughter of music legend“She knows music very well,” said Reddout. “So a lot of the really cool music choices that I’ve seen spotlighted in a lot of the reviews are Rashida choices.
