CLEVELAND , Ohio - We continue the latest season of our true crime podcast, ‘Dark Side of the Land’, with an episode on the cold blooded murder-for-hire committed by three generations of women.The Kaber household on Lake Avenue in Lakewood looked like a happy home of a prosperous publisher, Dan Kaber and his wife, Eva.
Behind closed doors, this wicked woman was slowly poisoning her husband.So Eva Kaber set about a murder for hire plot to have her husband ‘taken care of.’ “They were all in the house and in the middle of the night they heard screaming. It was Dan screaming because he was being murdered by two people who subsequently escaped from the house,” said John Stark Bellamy, author ofThe victim’s father, frustrated with police failing to pin his son’s murder on his suspicious daughter in law, hired private detectives to follow her for years. It seems Eva wasn’t the only ferocious female in the family. She recruited not only a couple of hit men, but her daughter and mother to help her get rid of her husband. All three generations of women were indicted for first degree murder. To date, its the only case of its kind.“She concocted a scheme to sell her life story to some Hollywood filmmakers, she thought. And in return for $500, she was going to hire some help and kill the warden and his wife and and escape from prison,” said Bellamy.
