In a recent revelation, she discussed the unique circumstance where she and her fellow cast members were given the liberty to improvise during a scene in the second episode, titled 'Models and Mortals.' This episode delves into Carrie's exploration of 'modelizers,' men who exclusively date models.
Samantha, ever the confident one, refuses to express any negativity about herself, stating to her perplexed friends, 'What? I happen to love the way I look!' Davis disclosed on her podcast that the writers intentionally chose not to script this particular exchange. They wanted to avoid predetermining each character's insecurities and allow for genuine expressions from the actresses. 'It's the one and only time that we were told we could ad-lib,' Davis explained. 'After that, it never happened again; it was very, very frowned upon after this. But it was the sweetest reason why!' She elaborated, 'In this particular scene, we’re talking about models and men who only date women who are models, and, you know, how we feel about that. Does it make us feel less than? I think that’s something Carrie asks us, and then we were each supposed to say what we felt insecure about.'The writers, Davis revealed, opted to leave this aspect open-ended. 'The writers didn’t want to write that on paper,' she shared. 'That was very sweet of them not to want to write what they thought we would feel self-conscious about. To let us ad-lib what we felt self-conscious about, it was really kind.'
